How to remember?

The upper part looks like a plane. The lower part looks like a building. Imagine that you look up and see a plane flying in the blue sky.

Radical

This Kanji itself is a radical.

Do not confuse this Kanji with:

肯-which is usually combined with 定, i.e.肯定, to mean "affirmative"

Green or Blue?

This Kanji means "light green" in modern Chinese. This meaning exists in some phrases in Japanese. Examples are 青葉(green leaves), 青物(green vegetables), 青虫(green caterpillar) and 青豆(green peas).

In Japanese, the Kanji 青 usually means "blue". Another Kanji 緑 is used to mean green. If you are learning Chinese and Japanese at the same time, pay special attention to this Kanji.
